<h2>You can soon enjoy RM5 one-way train fares both to and from JB Sentral to Woodlands, Singapore from 1 August</h2>

<p>The current price for a ticket from JB Sentral to Woodlands is already RM5, while from Woodlands to JB Sentral, it costs SGD5 (RM17.80). </p>
<p><b>The new move, announced last Friday, 16 February, will set the price at RM5 both ways for Malaysian citizens.</b></p>
<p>An estimated 40,000 Malaysian citizens use the train service to commute daily between Johor and Singapore.</p>
<p>Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) announced tickets are already available for purchase at the new pricing for trips in August onwards.</p>

<p>To ensure smooth verification of identity cards, KTMB has opened additional counters at JB Sentral until 1 March.</p>
<p>Ticket payments on KITS can be made via KTM Wallet, Touch &#8216;n Go eWallet, Boost, debit cards, and credit cards.</p>

<p>Perkara itu dikongsikan di laman Facebook <a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener" href="https://www.facebook.com/ktmberhad/posts/pfbid02bxuLpNid6TeRNjcBmeVuQ1cvDTUFANGuevGXjgRMsBGDKxdjTq5iqQu4LR2mHHjpl">KTMB</a> yang memaklumkan ketika ini kadar tambang dari JB Sentral ke Woodlands adalah RM5 manakala bagi perjalanan sehala dari Woodlands ke Johor Bahru adalah SGD5.</p>
<p>Untuk menikmati keistimewaan ini, KTMB memberitahu warganegara Malaysia perlu mendaftar akaun di aplikasi KTMB Mobile (KITS) dan membuat pengesahan kad pengenalan terlebih dahulu di kiosk tiket (<em>TVM</em>) atau kaunter tiket di seluruh rangkaian KTMB.﻿</p>

<p>According to <a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener" href="https://www.bangkokpost.com/life/arts-and-entertainment/2743369">Bangkok Post</a>, Srettha said the global concert promoter, Anschutz Entertainment Group (AEG), informed him that the Singaporean government had allegedly signed an exclusive deal with Swift.</p>
<p>AEG allegedly informed him that the Singaporean government financially supported Swift&#8217;s concerts, <b>offering between USD2 million (RM9.5 million) and USD3 million (RM14.3 million) per show in exchange for exclusivity in Southeast Asia</b>.</p>
<p>&#8220;If I had known this, I would have brought the shows to Thailand,&#8221; said Srettha last Friday, 16 February.</p>

<p>The <a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener" href="https://www.nst.com.my/lifestyle/groove/2024/02/1015018/showbiz-thailand-follow-singapore-subsidising-taylor-swift-concerts">New Straits Times</a>, citing a local report, noted that the Thai government plans to subsidise concerts, such as Swift&#8217;s, with <b>THB500 million (RM66.5 million)</b> to attract more fans to Thailand.</p>
<p>&#8220;This will boost sponsorship and tourism in Thailand. And it is not only Taylor Swift but also other international recording artistes with a strong following.</p>
<p>&#8220;If we want the likes of <b>Swift, Beyonce, and Coldplay</b> to perform in Thailand, we have to provide great incentives for their concerts to happen,&#8221; said Srettha.</p>

<p>Durairaj Santiran claims he slipped and fell on a patch of grease in the economy-class galley while working onboard a flight from San Francisco to Singapore on 6 September 2019, as reported by <a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener" href="https://www.straitstimes.com/singapore/courts-crime/ex-air-steward-who-slipped-on-grease-patch-and-fell-on-plane-sues-sia-for-178m" title="Link: https://www.straitstimes.com/singapore/courts-crime/ex-air-steward-who-slipped-on-grease-patch-and-fell-on-plane-sues-sia-for-178m">The Straits Times</a>.</p>
<p>He said that he hit his head on the floor and suffered injuries to his spine, rendering him medically unfit to continue working as a flight attendant.</p>
<p>The 35-year-old was previously employed by SIA from April 2016 to April 2021, and now works in Malaysia as a customer care analyst. </p>
<p>He is seeking damages including SGD1.29 million (RM4.5 million) for loss of future earnings, SGD30,000 (RM106,000) for loss of earning capacity, and SGD150,000 (RM531,000) for future medical and transport expenses.</p>
</p>
<p>Durairaj wore a neck brace when he attended court yesterday, 13 February, the first day of a 10-day trial.</p>

<p>They further argued that SIA did not take any preventive measures, allowing the workplace to be unsafe.</p>
<p>SIA denied Durairaj&#8217;s claims.</p>
<p>Meanwhile, the airline&#8217;s lawyers, Niru Pillai and Liew Teck Huat, said in their opening statement that SIA pays all valid and legitimate claims made by employees, but responds &#8220;firmly&#8221; to invalid, illegitimate, and false claims. </p>
<p>&#8220;The defendant treats this as a highly questionable claim, which they are obliged to contest resolutely,&#8221; said SIA&#8217;s lawyers.</p>

<p>However, in the present case, SIA noted that no one else had slipped or fallen on the alleged grease patch, supposedly located near the ovens next to the galley island. The company also disputed Durairaj&#8217;s claim that he slipped and fell while in the midst of preparing the next meal as the time for meals had not yet started.</p>
<p>While taking the stand, Durairaj said he noticed the grease patch after the cleaning crew left and had tried to clean it before takeoff, but the floor was still slippery.</p>
<p>SIA&#8217;s lawyers challenged his account, suggesting that his claim of slipping due to a patch of grease was fabricated.</p>
<p>Durairaj disagreed.</p>

<p>Dia mendakwa bekas majikannya cuai kerana membenarkan tempat kerja menjadi kawasan tidak selamat.</p>
<p>Dia ternampak tompokan gris pada lantai dapur kelas ekonomi semasa penerbangan berkenaan.</p>
<p>Kira-kira dua jam setengah jam sebelum mendarat, dia tergelincir pada tampalan gris dan jatuh terlentang, kepalanya terhantuk di atas lantai.</p>

<p>Oleh sebab itu, Durairaj tidak layak untuk terus bekerja sebagai pramugara penerbangan jika mengikut dari segi perubatan.</p>
<p>Berikut adalah tuntutan yang dibuat oleh Durairaj terhadap SIA; SGD1.29 juta (kira-kira RM4.6 juta) untuk kehilangan pendapatan masa depan, SGD30,000 (kira-kira RM106,174) untuk kehilangan kapasiti pendapatan, serta SGD150,000 (kira-kira RM531,070) untuk perbelanjaan perubatan serta pengangkutan masa depan.</p>
<p>Dalam kesnya, syarikat penerbangan nasional itu gagal menyediakan sistem kerja dan tempat yang selamat untuk bekerja serta gagal menangani dengan secukupnya kehadiran tompokan gris, sekali gus menyebabkan kawasan itu menjadi tidak selamat.</p>
<p>Menurut laporan itu lagi,Durairaj bekerja sebagai kru kabin di SIA dari April 2016 hingga April 2021. Difahamkan, kini dia sedang bekerja sebagai penganalisis penjagaan pelanggan di Malaysia.﻿</p>

<h2>Police in Genting Highlands arrested a Singaporean man, yesterday, 12 February, after a video showing him smashing the rear windscreen of another vehicle in Pagoh, Johor, went viral</h2>

<p><p>Johor police chief M Kumar said the arrest was made by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in Genting Highlands, Pahang, following a report lodged at 2.36pm on 10 February after the video of the altercation gained widespread attention on social media, reported <a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener" href="https://www.thestar.com.my/news/nation/2024/02/12/foreigner-arrested-over-johor-road-rage-incident">The Star.</a></p>
<p>The 54-second <a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener" href="https://www.facebook.com/reel/919040082763807">video</a>, which was uploaded on Facebook community group, Info Kemalangan/Jenayah Terkini Seluruh Malaysia, showed a red Mitsubishi Lancer being approached by two men.</p>
<p>As the driver attempted to drive away, one of the men lunged towards the car and slammed his hand on the windscreen. </p>
<p>In response, the driver exited his car with what appeared to be a golf club and swung it aggressively at the two men. Subsequently, the man struck the rear screen of a black MPV, causing damage.</p>
<p>Following the arrest, Kumar said the suspect in his 40s is currently being held in remand until tomorrow, 14 February. He added that the case is being investigated under Section 427 of the Penal Code for committing mischief, which carries a jail term of between one and five years, a fine, or both, upon conviction.</p>

<p>According to <a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener" href="https://www.straitstimes.com/singapore/woman-arrested-after-entering-changi-airport-s-transit-area-to-meet-k-pop-idol">The Straits Times</a>, the 25-year-old woman had allegedly bought a flight ticket with the sole purpose of entering the airport transit area, and had no intention of flying.</p>
<p>Reports believe that the unnamed woman wanted to meet K-pop group ENHYPEN. The seven-member boy band had performed two shows in Singapore on 20 and 21 January. The woman was arrested in the airport on 22 January.</p>
<p>Details of the incident were released by police yesterday, 8 February.</p>

<p>During his tenure in the country, he disclosed that he successfully accumulated SGD354,258 (RM1.24 million) in his Central Provident Fund (CPF) account.</p>
<p><b>CPF serves as a social security and retirement savings scheme for employees in Singapore, similar to Malaysia&#8217;s Employees Provident Fund (EPF).</b></p>
<p>&#8220;If your CPF has accumulated to this extent, what should you do? I&#8217;m still contemplating what to do with this money because I&#8217;m no longer able to work in Singapore and commute daily.</p>
<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s hard to quit my job, considering of my current position as an engineer with a monthly salary of SGD5,000 (RM17,618). When I saw the total amount [in my CPF account]﻿, I felt like withdrawing it and enjoying the fruits of my labour,&#8221; he said.</p>

<p>72-year-old Thangah Koh and 71-year-old Fatimah Mohidin have been best friends since childhood, reported <a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener" href="https://www.straitstimes.com/singapore/they-were-childhood-best-friends-who-later-discovered-they-are-sisters">The Straits Times.</a> </p>
<p>According to the report published over the weekend, Thangah said she and Fatima often played together as kids, and their strong resemblance frequently led to them being mistaken for sisters. </p>
<p>She said, &#8220;People said we looked alike and asked if we were sisters. I said &#8216;I&#8217;m Malay, while Thangah is Indian. How could we be sisters?&#8217; &#8220;</p>
<p>To her surprise, Thangah, who was adopted by an Indian family, later discovered that she had actually been born to a Chinese couple.</p>
<p>This came to light when she had to register for an identity card. The immigration officer revealed that the names of her parents on her birth certificate were Chinese.</p>
<p>Initially, Thangah was reluctant to confront her parents about her discovery. However, when she was 20, she decided to look for her birth parents, as she needed documents to register for Singapore citizenship.<br />﻿<br />Upon successfully locating her birth parents&#8217; address, Thangah visited them. It was during this encounter that her birth father disclosed that Fatimah, who was adopted by a Malay-Muslim family, was her biological sister.</p>

<p><p>An astrologer&#8217;s advice led Thangah&#8217;s birth parents to give her away to a non-Chinese family to avert potential ill fortune for her father, reported the Singaporean daily.</p>
<p>A year later, Fatimah also faced a similar fate as the astrologer suggested she might bring ill fortune to her mother. </p>
<p>Thangah and Fatimah&#8217;s birth parents also grappled with financial constraints as they raised a family of eight children, with the father working as a mechanic. </p>
<p>The duo was then adopted by an Indian couple who ran a canteen stall in a school. However, feeling they could not manage with two children, they later entrusted Fatimah to a Malay couple.</p>

<p>&#8220;My biological siblings are all loving and respectful, and our bond got closer as we got older. My brothers call me their Indian sister, and Fatimah their Malay sister,&#8221; The Straits Times quoted Thangah as saying.﻿</p>
<p>Thangah also added that she and Fatimah annually join the reunion dinner with their birth family during Chinese New Year.</p>
