Man In Selangor Dies After Getting His Neck Trapped Under ATM Shutters
Police say the victim may have been intoxicated.
A man was found dead yesterday, 2 January, at the entrance of a bank in Kota Kemuning, Selangor.
It is believed that he was killed after his neck was lodged under the automatic shutters.
Shah Alam district police chief ACP Mohd Iqbal Ibrahim said pedestrians found the man lying unconscious at the entrance to the bank's ATM machine area at 7.29am, Berita Harian reported.
"CCTV footage at the location showed the victim, aged between 50 and 60, lying unconscious in front of the ATM at 11.48pm last night (1 January). It is believed that the victim was intoxicated," he said.
"At 12.01am, the ATM's shutter closed automatically, trapping the victim's neck between the shutter and the floor before it opened again at 6am," he added.
Mohd Iqbal said the deceased was later pronounced dead at the scene by an assistant medical officer from Tuanku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital Klang.
