Chery Malaysia Plans To Launch Omoda E5 Electric SUV In March

The e-SUV looks primed and ready to conquer the Malaysian market.

Chery Malaysia has revealed the release window for its highly anticipated new electric vehicle (EV)

Having arrived on Malaysian shores in November 2023, Chery Malaysia's first EV is scheduled to debut in March 2024.

If all goes according to plan, the official debut of the Omoda E5 electric sports utility vehicle (e-SUV) is expected to occur sometime before or during the Ramadan period.

Chery is also hosting its inaugural Eco Run in Putrajaya

The car manufacturer revealed the expected launch window for the E5's launch while announcing the first-ever Chery Eco Run 2024 event scheduled for 7 January at Dataran Wawasan Putrajaya.

Individuals interested in joining the run, which offers 5km and 10km categories, can secure their participation with entry tickets priced as affordably as RM29.99.

The Chery Omoda E5 is packed with advanced features

The Omoda E5 showcases a stylish crossover design characterised by a streamlined silhouette and a futuristic front face. With an impressive energy efficiency of 15kWh/100km, it delivers an outstanding range of 450km. The vehicle is propelled by a front-mounted 165kW electric motor, drawing power from a 61kWh lithium-ion battery.

Charging is quick and convenient, with the battery reaching 20% to 80% capacity in just 30 minutes through DC charging. Additionally, the car is equipped with the latest Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS), featuring a minimum of 16 functions, such as blind-spot monitoring, reverse warning, and automatic emergency braking capable of recognising pedestrians and cyclists.

Here's how much the Omoda E5 is expected to be priced:

Chery has not disclosed the pricing details for the Omoda E5 in Malaysia yet. However, considering its petrol-powered counterpart is available in the range of RM108,800 to RM118,800, it's expected to be in the RM150,000 to RM160,000 price bracket.

The official retail price is expected to be unveiled in the near future, coinciding with the imminent launch of the vehicle.
