Special Delivery: KLIA Staff Rush To Help Woman As She Goes Into Labour In Waiting Area
Thank goodness, it didn't happen on the airplane.
A woman recently gave birth to her child in the waiting area of Terminal 1 at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) in Sepang
On 28 December 2023, Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) shared a Facebook post, expressing gratitude towards the Aviation Security (AVSEC) and the Customer Experience Management (CEM) teams for their "lightning-fast" response in aiding the woman.
They also promptly contacted medical officers from the Health Ministry (MOH) and Medilife Paramedic for further assistance.
"After the successful delivery, both the mother and the cute newborn were subsequently sent to Hospital Serdang for further treatment and monitoring," MAHB wrote.
MAHB also extended its appreciation to MOH and Medilife Paramedics for their assistance.
Netizens flooded the post with congratulatory messages for the mother and all the teams involved
Other netizens joked that the newborn baby's birth certificate would list 'the waiting room of KLIA Terminal 1' as their place of birth.

Meanwhile, one netizen advised expectant mothers to fill up a release form before travelling.
"If the baby arrives a few weeks before the due date, the staff has to refuse check-in or boarding," they said.

According to Malaysia Airlines' website, expectant mothers do not need to obtain medical clearance before flying. However, they are required to present a letter confirming fitness to fly from their doctor at the check-in counter and fill out a release form.
