Video Shows A RapidKL Bus Engulfed In Flames On Jalan Ampang
According to the Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Department, the blaze destroyed 50% of the bus.
Photos and videos circulating on social media earlier today, 29 January, show a RapidKL bus engulfed in flames near a mall in KL
The social media posts stated that the bus went up in flames in front of the Great Eastern Mall.
Rapid Bus Sdn Bhd confirmed the incident in a statement posted on its official Facebook page, stating that it took place at around 10.52am.
According to the statement, the bus was serving Route 303 from Taman Mulia Jaya to Lebuh Ampang.

No casualties reported
There were six passengers on the bus at the time of the incident. Fortunately, the passengers and the bus driver escaped unhurt. There was also no damage to the public property.
"During the incident, the bus captain noticed smoke coming from the back of the bus and quickly decided to stop the vehicle to disembark passengers and attempt to control the fire from spreading using the fire extinguisher on the bus. The fire department was contacted and arrived at the location at 10.56am, and the fire was successfully extinguished shortly after," read the statement.
According to the Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Department, the blaze destroyed 50% of the bus. What remained of it was towed to the depot at 12.08pm.
An investigation is underway to determine the cause of the fire.
Rapid Bus apologised for the incident assured the public that it would fully cooperate with the policein conducting a thorough investigation into the cause of the fire.
