<p>The social media posts stated that the bus went up in flames in front of the Great Eastern Mall.</p>
<p>Rapid Bus Sdn Bhd confirmed the incident in a statement posted on its official Facebook page, stating that it took place at around 10.52am.</p>
<p><a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener" href="https://www.facebook.com/myrapid/posts/790019213160563">According to the statement</a>, the bus was serving Route 303 from Taman Mulia Jaya to Lebuh Ampang.</p>

<p>There were six passengers on the bus at the time of the incident. Fortunately, the passengers and the bus driver escaped unhurt. There was also no damage to the public property.</p>
<p>&#8220;During the incident, the bus captain noticed smoke coming from the back of the bus and quickly decided to stop the vehicle to disembark passengers and attempt to control the fire from spreading using the fire extinguisher on the bus. The fire department was contacted and arrived at the location at 10.56am, and the fire was successfully extinguished shortly after,&#8221; read the statement.</p>
<p><a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener" href="https://www.facebook.com/BernamaTV/posts/712317674393574">According to the Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Department</a>, the blaze destroyed 50% of the bus. What remained of it was towed to the depot at 12.08pm.</p>
<p>An investigation is underway to determine the cause of the fire.</p>
<p>Rapid Bus apologised for the incident assured the public that it would fully cooperate with the policein conducting a thorough investigation into the cause of the fire.</p>

<p>In a <a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener" href="https://www.facebook.com/myrapid/posts/780657294096755">statement</a> yesterday, 14 January, Prasarana announced that the <b>OKU Smile pass</b> will officially roll out next month.</p>
<p>This pass is available for both <b>existing Prasarana OKU concession cardholders</b> and <b>new applicants who are persons with disabilities</b>.</p>
<p>&#8220;The introduction of this initiative is a follow-up to the announcement by Transport Minister Anthony Loke on 21 December about a free fare incentive for the disabled community for all rail and bus services operated by Prasarana,&#8221; stated the public transport company wholly owned by the Finance Ministry.</p>
<p>It added that existing Prasarana OKU concession cardholders can activate the OKU Smile pass at any Rapid KL LRT, MRT, Monorail, BRT, and selected bus hub counters beginning today, 15 January.</p>

<p>In an X post on Friday, 5 January, Rapid KL said the route from Masjid Jamek to Bandaraya LRT stations is set to reopen, pending the successful completion of repairs and approval from the authorities.</p>

<p>It was <a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener" href="https://says.com/my/news/lrt-suspends-service-at-six-stations-on-ampang-sri-petaling-line">previously reported</a> that Rapid KL detected structural damage and a kinked track at the Bandaraya station in January 2023. As a safety measure, the Bandaraya and Masjid Jamek stations were closed for repairs to be carried out.</p>
<p>In the meantime, commuters were advised to use alternative rail lines to reach their destinations.</p>
<p>Passengers heading to Hang Tuah station currently have to use the Titiwangsa Monorail station, while those bound for Chan Sow Lin have to take the Putrajaya MRT line.</p>
