Kyle Green, a musician currently residing in Portugal, woke up to a shock when his Instagram page was suddenly flooded with thousands of comments left by Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) candidates

The incident occurred on 30 January when a fictional musician sharing the guitarist's name was mentioned in the listening module of this year's English SPM paper.

Shortly after the conclusion of the exam, a wave of students vented their frustration by sending hundreds of messages and voice notes to Kyle Green's social media accounts, expressing their dissatisfaction with the difficulty of the questions.

"Did you take a law course or a lecturer course in Australia, bro? My future depends on the answer here," commented one SPM student in one of Green's Instagram posts.

"Anyone here because of the SPM test?" wrote another.

In an Instagram Story, Green issued an apology and clarified that the narrative heard by SPM students during the exam was purely fictional

"I don't normally do these types of videos, but today has been a bizarre day.

"This morning, I woke up to my Instagram inbox full of messages, phone calls on WhatsApp, emails, and all sorts of things from kids in Malaysia," said Green.

Despite the odd messages he had received, the musician did not deny the possibility that the audio used during the listening test might have been inspired by his life story

However, Green considered the experience to be amusing. He also took the opportunity to dedicate a message to the students who had taken the exam.

"To the kids in Malaysia, I hope you did well on the test. If you didn't, I hope you study harder next time.

"To those who expressed interest in my music and shared kind words, I appreciate that. I hope you enjoy them and all the best to all of you," said the musician.
