The KTM trains will also be offering 24-hour service from 23 to 26 January.
Commuters in Klang Valley will enjoy free KTM rides on 24 and 25 January in conjunction with Thaipusam, which falls on 25 January
Transport Minister Anthony Loke said Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) will start the initiative at the stroke of midnight on 24 January and end it at 11.59pm the next day.
"This is the first time we're providing free rides for KTM users in the Klang Valley in conjunction with Thaipusam," he said, as quoted by the New Straits Times.
"However, commuters still need to scan (when checking in and out) at the automated control gates at the stations during this period," he added.
Loke said the KTM train operating hours will also be extended, with 28 stations offering 24-hour service from 23 to 26 January, as the ministry is expecting some 250,000 passengers to use the train services during the long weekend.
