<p>Last week, the government announced that telecommunications companies would not impose additional fees on their subscribers who want to upgrade to 5G.</p>
<p>Now, MCMC will lend its support to the government to enforce this new ruling.﻿</p>

<p>In an X post on <b>Tuesday, 9 January,</b> Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil, said no telco will charge extra fees for 5G services in the country.</p>
<p>Now, both postpaid and prepaid users from all telcos can use the network without the need to purchase &#8216;booster&#8217; passes.</p>

<p>While other telco companies previously charged an additional fee for access to the upgraded network, they are now expected to provide 5G services at no extra cost in the coming days.</p>
<p>Now, the government will take action against service providers charging extra fees for 5G, as the 5G infrastructure provided by Digital Nasional Bhd is funded with public resources.</p>
