<p>It was reported that the man allegedly drugged his wife and then watched as the men sexually assaulted her without protection in the couple&#8217;s bedroom. He was also accused of sexually assaulting the wives of two of the men involved.</p>
<p>The crime was exposed when the man&#8217;s wife discovered explicit images of herself on his phone. She later discovered that her husband and the other men had been engaging in &#8216;wife-swapping&#8217;.</p>

<p>&#8220;The sentence imposed has already choked the life out of me. My soul has died, what is left is just an empty shell,&#8221; he said.</p>
<p>The accused also submitted letters from his mother and sister, both pleading for leniency.&nbsp;</p>
<p>Chief Justice Sundaresh Menon rejected his plea for a lighter punishment, emphasising that the sentence was already &#8220;lenient&#8221;.</p>
<p>Sundaresh insisted that the accused must confront his actions and find answers without expecting leniency from the court. He also stated that the court must adhere to precedents and sentencing principles.</p>

<p>Four out of these five men pleaded guilty to their charges and received prison sentences ranging from 13½ to 22 years, with three of them also receiving 20 strokes of the cane.</p>
<p>The fifth man was convicted in November last year and is awaiting sentencing.</p>

<p>He is accused of raping the victim inside a police patrol car while on duty.</p>
<p>According to the <a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener" href="https://www.nst.com.my/news/crime-courts/2024/01/1002425/lance-corporal-charged-raping-uzbek-teen-patrol-car-updated">New Straits Times</a>, the suspended officer, who is a father of two, was also charged with committing unnatural sex, carnal intercourse against the order of nature, and sexual assault against the 17-year-old victim.</p>
<p>The incident reportedly occurred near Persiaran Saujana Ampang at Jalan Ampang Hillview around 10.30pm on 9 January.</p>
<p>He is facing a maximum of 30 years imprisonment and whipping under Section 376(1), Section 377C, and Section 377CA of the Penal Code, as well as Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017.</p>
<p>The 31-year-old pleaded not guilty to all offences when the charges were read before Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court judge Norshila Kamaruddin yesterday, 17 January, <a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener" href="https://www.thestar.com.my/news/nation/2024/01/18/cop-stands-trial-for-raping-teen">reported</a> The Star.</p>

<p>For this offence, the two were charged under Section 384 of the Penal Code at the KL Magistrate Court. It carries a maximum of 10 years&#8217; imprisonment, a fine or whipping, upon conviction, according to The Star.</p>
<p>The duo was jointly accused of extorting RM500 from the victim and her boyfriend by threatening to spread their intimate video. They took the victim&#8217;s boyfriend to a bank to make a withdrawal.</p>
<p>Both Muhammad Fazrul and Muhammad Adib were granted bail at&nbsp;RM4,000 each.</p>

<p>Earlier, counsel G Visvanathan Nair, representing the accused, requested leniency in the bail amount. He cited his client&#8217;s chronic autoimmune neuromuscular disorder, which causes muscle weakness and fatigue due to impaired communication between nerves and muscles.</p>
<p>The court has fixed 12 March for case mention.</p>

<p>Habib Yusri Yusof, 45, admitted to sexually abusing a 14-year-old Malaysian student and a 16-year-old Rohingya student under his care, <a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener" href="https://www.hmetro.com.my/mutakhir/2024/01/1048733/pergilah-jumpa-pelajar-minta-maaf-hakim">reported</a> Harian Metro. The assaults occurred within the madrasah and under the pretence of measuring clothes, betraying the trust expected in a place of learning and religious guidance.</p>
<p>Both offences, as per the charges, fall under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offenses against Children Act 2017 and carries punishment per Section 14, read together with Section 16 of the same act.</p>
<p>While Section 14 prescribes a punishment of imprisonment for up to 20 years along with whipping, Section 16 imposes an extra penalty, which includes imprisonment for up to five years and whipping.</p>

<p>According to the first charge, Habib sexually assaulted a 14-year-old Malaysian student at 12pm on 4 January this year. The second charge against the accused involves the physical sexual assault of a 16-year-old Rohingya student at 7.30am in November last year, <a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener" href="https://www.nst.com.my/news/crime-courts/2024/01/999177/if-you-have-chance-see-victims-involved-and-apologise">reported</a> the New Straits Times.</p>
<p>Habib had called both the victims into his room to help organise some items.</p>

<p>&#8220;If you have a chance, go see the victims involved and apologise,&#8221; said Judge Abu Bakar during the sentencing, highlighting the importance of acknowledging the gravity of the offences committed against the victims.</p>
<p>Habib maintained a calm demeanour as the judge pronounced the verdict.</p>
