<p>In a <a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener" href="https://www.facebook.com/jkrsabah/posts/393424499849128?ref=embed_post" title="Link: https://www.facebook.com/jkrsabah/posts/393424499849128?ref=embed_post">Facebook post</a> on 30 January, Sabah JKR stated that a team of road maintenance workers were dispatched to the area to fix the pothole after images of it went viral on social media. </p>
<p>The department added that the pothole was successfully filled despite continuous heavy rains hampering the workers&#8217; progress.﻿</p>

<p>In the <a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener" href="https://twitter.com/redzuanNewsMPB/status/1752351214531121471">picture</a>, the banana sapling is seen standing upright within the pothole. Fresh soil was placed around the trunk to secure the plant in its position.</p>
<p>&#8220;If [the tree] bears fruit, [I&#8217;ll] buy tar to patch the pothole myself. [I] pity the road users,&#8221; he remarked sarcastically on his Facebook post.</p>
<p>According to <a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener" href="https://www.bharian.com.my/berita/nasional/2024/01/1206608/letak-pokok-pisang-tutup-lubang-di-jalan-sandakan-lahad-datu">Berita Harian</a>, the pothole was located approximately 500m away from the site of a fatal accident involving a four-year-old girl, who lost her life when the Proton Iswara she was in collided with an express bus.</p>
<p>Moments before the <a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener" href="https://www.bharian.com.my/berita/kes/2024/01/1205569/budak-4-tahun-maut-kereta-dirempuh-bas-ekspres">fatal accident</a>, there was another collision at the same location involving two lorries.</p>
<p>The police said the accident happened when the lorry drivers were attempting to avoid potholes and navigate the uneven road.</p>
<p>This caused the driver of the Proton Iswara and a three-tonne lorry to suddenly stop their vehicles. An express bus approaching from the same direction was unable to stop in time and slammed into the rear of the car.</p>

<p><p>The mistake was shared on Facebook by the organiser herself, <a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener" href="https://www.facebook.com/nina.othman.3">Nina Othman</a>, the founder of social enterprise Borneo Cocoa.</p>
<p>Apologetic about the incident, Nina wrote that she was holding a leadership seminar for fellow entrepreneurs, and advised them to use their real names on social media to showcase a professional image.</p>
<p>&#8220;I instructed them to avoid using nicknames or usernames such as &#8216;Sweet Girl&#8217;, &#8216;Pinky Comel&#8217;, &#8216;CuteBear33&#8217;, or other names similar to it, and everyone agreed,&#8221; she said.</p>
<p>However, during the ice-breaking session, <b></b><b>she realised there was a participant who listed her name as &#8216;Baby&#8217; and questioned the woman.</b><b></b></p>
<p><b>&#8220;She then told me that Baby Girl Ariffin was indeed her name. I feel so guilty (for questioning her)!&#8221;</b> she wrote.</p>

<p>The 37-year-old from Tuaran, Sabah said her name was not given by her parents, but by her aunt.</p>
<p>&#8220;I once asked my aunt why she gave me that name. <b>She answered that she did not know what to name me at the time&#8230; so she just chose the name Baby Girl.</b></p>
<p>&#8220;I have five siblings, and I am the third child, but only my name is different from the others,&#8221; she added.</p>

<h2>Tuaran Hospital in Sabah is under scrutiny for allegedly misdiagnosing a patient, leading to his death</h2>

<p>On 29 December last year, an 18-year-old patient died due to an alleged misdiagnosis at Tuaran Hospital.</p>
<p>Tuaran member of parliament (MP) Datuk Seri Wilfred Madius Tangau <a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener" href="https://www.bharian.com.my/berita/nasional/2024/01/1195275/remaja-meninggal-dunia-selepas-hospital-tuaran-gagal-kenal-pasti">stated</a> that the patient sought treatment at the hospital for a high fever on 25 December, but the hospital sent the patient home.</p>
<p>&#8220;However, on 28 December, the teenager&#8217;s family brought him to the hospital again because his fever did not subside,&#8221; he said, adding that the doctors at the hospital sent the patient home after determining that his situation was not severe.</p>
<p>The teenager&#8217;s family took him to Tuaran Hospital for the third time on 29 December after he experienced bleeding.</p>
<p>Tangau <a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener" href="https://www.bharian.com.my/berita/nasional/2024/01/1195275/remaja-meninggal-dunia-selepas-hospital-tuaran-gagal-kenal-pasti">shared</a> that Tuaran Hospital then referred the patient to Queen Elizabeth Hospital, where doctors discovered that the patient had contracted severe dengue fever.</p>
<p>The patient, Aidil @ Erjuand Christian, died in the Intensive Care Unit on the same day.</p>

<h2>Now, the Sabah State Health Department (JKNS) has initiated an inquiry into Tuaran Hospital for the death of the 18-year-old patient</h2>

<p>JKNS director Datuk Dr Asits Sanna said the department was deeply concerned about the death of the teenager from dengue fever, allegedly due to a misdiagnosis at Tuaran Hospital.</p>
<p>He stated that a comprehensive and transparent investigation  was underway to identify corrective measures that could enhance the quality of healthcare services for the people of Sabah.</p>
<p>&#8220;Currently, the hospital has four specialists on duty, including a general practitioner, two pediatric specialists, and an emergency medicine specialist,&#8221; he said in a <a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener" href="https://www.nst.com.my/news/nst-viral/2024/01/996650/nstviralsabah-health-take-corrective-action-following-boy-died-late" title="Link: https://www.nst.com.my/news/nst-viral/2024/01/996650/nstviralsabah-health-take-corrective-action-following-boy-died-late">statement</a> yesterday, 2 January.</p>
<p>In August last year, Tuaran Hospital was accused of failing to provide proper treatment to another patient, who was taken to the hospital after suffering a fall. The medical staff on duty, however, found no serious injuries and sent the patient home, resulting in her death, according ﻿to <a href="https://www.bernama.com/en/news.php?id=2212083">Bernama</a>.</p>
