<p>In a <a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener" href="https://www.facebook.com/jkrsabah/posts/393424499849128?ref=embed_post" title="Link: https://www.facebook.com/jkrsabah/posts/393424499849128?ref=embed_post">Facebook post</a> on 30 January, Sabah JKR stated that a team of road maintenance workers were dispatched to the area to fix the pothole after images of it went viral on social media. </p>
<p>The department added that the pothole was successfully filled despite continuous heavy rains hampering the workers&#8217; progress.﻿</p>

<p>In the <a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener" href="https://twitter.com/redzuanNewsMPB/status/1752351214531121471">picture</a>, the banana sapling is seen standing upright within the pothole. Fresh soil was placed around the trunk to secure the plant in its position.</p>
<p>&#8220;If [the tree] bears fruit, [I&#8217;ll] buy tar to patch the pothole myself. [I] pity the road users,&#8221; he remarked sarcastically on his Facebook post.</p>
<p>According to <a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener" href="https://www.bharian.com.my/berita/nasional/2024/01/1206608/letak-pokok-pisang-tutup-lubang-di-jalan-sandakan-lahad-datu">Berita Harian</a>, the pothole was located approximately 500m away from the site of a fatal accident involving a four-year-old girl, who lost her life when the Proton Iswara she was in collided with an express bus.</p>
<p>Moments before the <a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener" href="https://www.bharian.com.my/berita/kes/2024/01/1205569/budak-4-tahun-maut-kereta-dirempuh-bas-ekspres">fatal accident</a>, there was another collision at the same location involving two lorries.</p>
<p>The police said the accident happened when the lorry drivers were attempting to avoid potholes and navigate the uneven road.</p>
<p>This caused the driver of the Proton Iswara and a three-tonne lorry to suddenly stop their vehicles. An express bus approaching from the same direction was unable to stop in time and slammed into the rear of the car.</p>

<p><b>&#8220;This is my money. This is your money. This is not YB&#8217;s money,&#8221; he says to the camera while pointing at the road.</b></p>
<p>&#8220;I&#8217;m writing this so that [the Klang Municipal Council (MPK)] will not claim [it is their work]. If I don&#8217;t write this, we&#8217;ll be using our own money but they will claim it [as their work],&#8221; he added.</p>
<p>According to the video&#8217;s caption, a pothole had caused a motorcyclist to fall, which prompted the man to take it upon himself to patch the road.</p>
<p>&#8220;Despite complaining to the Sentosa assemblyman, there has been no action. In the end, the public will fix it with their own money! What&#8217;s the point of having a government like this?&#8221; read the caption.</p>

<p>&#8220;The area&#8217;s [previous] council member had advised MPK to take action and repair the road, but there was no follow-up before their term ended, and the new council member will begin work on 15 January,&#8221; he wrote.</p>
<p>&#8220;We will meet with MPK again this [Wednesday] to ensure that the repair of all damaged roads in Taman Sentosa and Klang is prioritised,&#8221; he added.</p>
<p>Gunaraj also thanked the man for fixing the road on his own accord and promised, once again, to advise MPK to take immediate action to ensure the safety of road users.</p>

<p><p>According to <a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener" href="https://www.thestar.com.my/news/nation/2024/01/09/pregnant-woman-killed-sister-hurt-in-crash-on-pasir-gudang-highway">The Star</a>, Seri Alam police chief Supt Mohd Sohaimi Ishak said the accident occurred at 12.40am on Sunday, 7 January.</p>
<p>He said the car heading towards Pasir Gudang was driven by the 30-year-old sister.</p>
<p>&#8220;Investigations revealed that the vehicle was driven from Tebrau and is believed to have lost control before crashing into the panel box at the road divider.</p>
<p>&#8220;The driver of the car suffered a minor injury while the 28-year-old female passenger was pronounced dead while being treated at the Sultan Ismail Hospital,&#8221; he said in a statement yesterday, 9 January.</p>
<p>The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.</p>

<p><p><a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener" href="https://www.facebook.com/puven.rajandran/posts/pfbid02cy68MhT4aj6mPct4uuXzNQbja8SK79ZV68physEWaHX3vbXaDpGNnZw2tk19yQQul">Puven Rajandran</a>, a Facebook user who claims to be a family member, blamed the pothole for the accident, and added that it was raining when the crash occurred.</p>
<p>&#8220;[She died] just because [they were] avoiding potholes on a slippery rainy night,&#8221; he wrote.</p>
<p>He questioned the Works Ministry about the road repair works that were supposed to have been carried out on the Pasir Gudang Highway between August and October last year. He also tagged the Crown Prince of Johor in his post, urging action to prevent similar incidents from recurring.</p>
<p>The user also claimed that the baby of the mother involved in the accident has been&nbsp;delivered and is currently at Sultan Ismail Hospital&#8217;s intensive care unit.</p>
