<p>Since 2018, only a specific list of 45 types of firecrackers has been authorised for sale, aligning with standard operating procedures and festive season protocols, reports <a href="https://www.thestar.com.my/news/nation/2024/02/09/only-45-types-of-firecrackers-authorised-for-sale-says-bukit-aman">The Star</a>.</p>
<p>According to PDRM secretary DCP Alzafny Ahmad, the sale of firecrackers to the public is limited to festive seasons. This includes Chinese New Year, Hari Raya Aidilfitri and Hari Raya Aidiladha, Deepavali, Christmas, Gawai, and Kaamatan. </p>
<p>This restriction aims to ensure public safety and prevent disturbances outside designated celebration periods.</p>

They urged the public to exercise responsibility and adhere to safety precautions when setting off fireworks during celebrations.</p>

<p>The victims were employees of a fireworks installation company tasked with preparing for  a New Year&#8217;s Eve show at the hotel, said Port Dickson district police chief Supt Aidi Sham Mohamed.</p>
<p>While confirming the unfortunate accident, Aidi Sham said one of the victims, aged 40, died on the spot after suffering severe injuries to his face, while his colleague was taken to Port Dickson Hospital for treatment.</p>
