A Malaysian husband was left heartbroken as his wife lost some of her memories after undergoing brain surgery

According to Harian Metro, 32-year-old Asdina Arffin has been taking care of his 33-year-old wife, Noor Syamimi Rohim, who is now unable to walk and has lost her vision after her brain was infected with germs in June 2022.

He said Noor Syamimi, once an active individual who rarely fell sick, now relies on assistance for daily tasks.

She underwent two brain surgeries that resulted in the loss of her mobility, except for her hands.

Asdina shared that Noor Syamimi struggles with memory issues, often remembering moments from before 2018 and believing her late family members are still alive

"My wife has undergone two operations on her head, including the removal of fluid that caused her to be unable to walk, but her hands are mobile and now her health condition seems to have improved.

"It's just that I'm a bit sad and upset because she doesn't remember I'm her husband, but she knows we're friends, my full name, and my nickname. She calls me 'Shuben'.

"When I said we were married, she replied 'not yet' and that feeling was really sad, especially when she didn't know I am her husband at first. At that time, I wasn't prepared to accept this challenge ahead," the husband recounted.

Amidst the trials, Asdina reflected on the promises made during their wedding

The homemaker who resides in Taman Bertam Impian, Melaka, said he gathered the courage to take care of his wife because he loves her very much and realises that it is his responsibility as a husband.

He said that when Noor Syamimi was healthy, she not only put their family first, but also supported him throughout their marriage. She was always cheerful as they faced the ups and downs of life together.

"Not only did I promise my wife that we would always be together in good and bad times, but I also promised her family and God at our wedding. So, I will try to take good care of her as long as I have the capacity.

"After all, this is a test God has given us and no one wants to be sick like my wife if given a choice. She also doesn't want to be in this situation," he lamented.

Asdina said he is praying for his wife's full recovery

He said he takes care of his wife, and seeks help from his sister whenever there is work that requires him to leave home.

Asdina added that he has applied for help from the Social Welfare Department (JKM).

When asked about his TikTok account where he documents his daily interactions with his wife, he said the videos not only serve as memories, but also provide an avenue to exchange information with netizens and indirectly garner more prayers for his wife's recovery.
