Japan recently experienced a series of strong earthquakes, resulting in damaged buildings and numerous fatalities

The 7.6 magnitude earthquake, which hit central Japan on New Year's Day, was said to be the strongest in the region in four decades, according to the US Geological Survey.

Tens of thousands of homes were destroyed, triggering tsunami warnings. Among the affected cities was Tokyo, where buildings were shaken.

During the sudden and frightening turn of events, a wholesome moment was captured on camera at Tokyo Disneyland, showing a Disney mascot stepping up to calm down visitors

Families enjoying a day at Tokyo Disneyland were seen crouching in groups after an earthquake warning was announced over the theme park's speakers.

In a video, an Eeyore mascot could be seen using hand gestures to calm down children.

While the earthquake warning blared over the theme park's speakers, the mascot, still in costume, could be seen signalling for everyone to put their hands over their heads

Instagram user Jason Hill captured the moment on camera, which has since garnered over 2.7 million plays:
