8-Year-Old Girl's Toes Get Caught In Escalator In Setapak Shopping Mall
It took the Fire and Rescue Department about 40 minutes to free her.
An eight-year-old's toes were caught in an escalator at a shopping mall in Setapak, Selangor on Monday, 19 February
According to the New Straits Times, the eight-year-old girl was at the mall with her mother when the incident occurred at 4.45pm.
A video of the incident, allegedly recorded at Setapak Central Mall, was circulated on social media. It showed the young girl being comforted by her mother while firemen try to free her leg.

A Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Department spokesperson said they received an emergency call about the incident at 4.56pm
A team from Setapak station was deployed to the scene, where the five-member squad immediately began working to free the girl's foot from the escalator.
"The firemen together with the building management took about 30 to 40 minutes to successfully free her leg," said operations commander PBK II Shamsul Bahri Hashim.
He added that the injured girl was referred to a medical team, who was also on standby at the scene to provide emergency treatment.
It is said one of the girl's toes was fractured while another two were injured.
SAYS has reached out to the shopping mall for comment, but has yet to receive a reply.
