A Reddit user recently posted photos of a Tesla Cybertruck colliding with a Toyota Corolla in the US

The accident, which occurred on Skyline Boulevard in California, took place on December 28, 2023.

Based on the visuals shared by Reddit user "boddhya", the Cybertruck left the Corolla badly damaged, raising questions about the truck's safety.

The California Highway Patrol confirmed and attributed the incident to the Corolla's driver's negligence.

This is the first reported crash involving a Cybertruck since the model came off the assembly line in November 2023.

Experts warned that the Cybertruck's design could pose dangers to other road users

Adrian Lund, the former president of the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), said the issue lies with the design of the truck itself.

"The big problem there is if they really make the skin of the vehicle very stiff by using thick stainless steel, then when people hit their heads on it, it's going to cause more damage to them," Lund told Reuters

Meanwhile, Tesla chief executive officer Elon Musk previously assured the public of the truck's safety
