Elon Musk's company, Neuralink, achieved a milestone by successfully implanted a brain chip in a human last week
In a post of his official X account, Musk said the individual who received the chip is recuperating. Early results also indicate promising detection of neuron spikes, he added.
The brain chip is aimed at assisting patients with severe paralysis by using their neural signals to control devices.
In May 2023, Neuralink secured approval from the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and in September of the same year, the company initiated its inaugural human trial, enlisting participants for comprehensive research.
Neuralink's first product is named Telepathy
Telepathy helps patients with conditions such as Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis communicate by manipulating cursors and typing with their thoughts.
Musk added that Telepathy could help individuals communicate faster than professional typists or auctioneers.
