<p>Speaking to <a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener" href="https://www.hmetro.com.my/utama/2024/02/1061913/maafkan-saya-bang-isteri-gagal-selamatkan-suami">Harian Metro</a>, Nora Elina said she was playing with her two daughters in the sand on the beach when the incident occurred last Friday, 16 February.</p>
<p>At around 11.20am, she noticed Zulkarnain struggling to stay afloat after being swept away by strong waves.</p>
<p>&#8220;Forgive me, <i>abang</i>. I swam desperately, trying to reach you from 5m off the shore,&#8221; she said after the incident.</p>
<p>&#8220;We threw a lifebuoy towards Zulkarnain as I swam towards him to rescue him.</p>
<p>&#8220;But as I approached, the strong current separated us further, forcing me to retreat to the shore,&#8221; she told reporters at the scene.</p>

<p>The SAR efforts are being carried out jointly by the Malaysia Maritime Enforcement Agency, the police, and the Fire and Rescue Department, reported <a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener" href="https://www.mstar.com.my/lokal/semasa/2024/02/19/lelaki-dikhuatiri-lemas-di-pantai-operasi-sar-disambung-pagi-ini-isteri-minta-maaf-gagal-selamatkan-suami">mStar</a>.</p>
<p>According to <a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener" href="https://www.bharian.com.my/berita/kes/2024/02/1214073/bomba-guna-dron-kesan-lelaki-dikhuatiri-lemas-di-batu-burok">Berita Harian</a>, drones were also deployed to search for Zulkarnain yesterday, 18 February.</p>
<p>An official said that based on current movements, the victim might have been washed to the left of the Terengganu river mouth.</p>
