<p>A spokesperson for the Singapore-based flight training company, Aviation Safety Technology (AST), which owns the aircraft, said the flight was in preparation for the Singapore Airshow, <a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener" href="https://www.straitstimes.com/asia/se-asia/bodies-of-2-malaysians-recovered-after-singapore-owned-light-plane-crashes-in-selangor">reported</a> The Straits Times.</p>
<p>The airshow is scheduled to take place from 20 to 25 February.</p>
<p>As per AST&#8217;s website, the aircraft is part of the airshow&#8217;s outdoor static display.</p>

<p>According to the New Straits Times, residents in Kampung Tok Muda, Kapar, <a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener" href="https://www.nst.com.my/news/nation/2024/02/1012957/explosion-heard-kapar-plane-crash">said</a> they heard a powerful explosion, causing their houses to shake, before realising that an aircraft had crashed nearby.</p>

<p>Data from the flight tracking website <a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener" href="https://www.flightradar24.com/data/aircraft/i-pooc#33f9f8e4">FlightRadar24</a> shows that the aircraft flew southwards and made a right turn towards the west. The aircraft then ascended to an altitude of 1,725ft and maintained an airspeed of around 130 knots (240km/h). Soon, it began losing altitude, with the last known flight data showing that it reached a vertical speed of negative 4,096ft per minute.</p>
