<p>Speaking to <a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener" href="https://www.hmetro.com.my/utama/2024/02/1061913/maafkan-saya-bang-isteri-gagal-selamatkan-suami">Harian Metro</a>, Nora Elina said she was playing with her two daughters in the sand on the beach when the incident occurred last Friday, 16 February.</p>
<p>At around 11.20am, she noticed Zulkarnain struggling to stay afloat after being swept away by strong waves.</p>
<p>&#8220;Forgive me, <i>abang</i>. I swam desperately, trying to reach you from 5m off the shore,&#8221; she said after the incident.</p>
<p>&#8220;We threw a lifebuoy towards Zulkarnain as I swam towards him to rescue him.</p>
<p>&#8220;But as I approached, the strong current separated us further, forcing me to retreat to the shore,&#8221; she told reporters at the scene.</p>

<p>The SAR efforts are being carried out jointly by the Malaysia Maritime Enforcement Agency, the police, and the Fire and Rescue Department, reported <a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener" href="https://www.mstar.com.my/lokal/semasa/2024/02/19/lelaki-dikhuatiri-lemas-di-pantai-operasi-sar-disambung-pagi-ini-isteri-minta-maaf-gagal-selamatkan-suami">mStar</a>.</p>
<p>According to <a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener" href="https://www.bharian.com.my/berita/kes/2024/02/1214073/bomba-guna-dron-kesan-lelaki-dikhuatiri-lemas-di-batu-burok">Berita Harian</a>, drones were also deployed to search for Zulkarnain yesterday, 18 February.</p>
<p>An official said that based on current movements, the victim might have been washed to the left of the Terengganu river mouth.</p>

<p>44-year-old Loh Seow Hwa said his 63-year-old wife, <b>Lee Je Siang</b>, left their home in Bandar Puchong, Selangor, <b>for personal matters in Taiwan on 28 December last year</b>, reported <a target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener" href="https://www.hmetro.com.my/mutakhir/2024/01/1051701/suami-bimbang-isteri-dilarikan-ke-laos">Harian Metro</a>.</p>
<p>Lee, a volunteer worker, was scheduled to return to Malaysia on 7 January, but has been uncontactable since 3 January.</p>
<p>&#8220;On 3 January, I called [my wife] to inquire about the date and time of her return flight to Malaysia.</p>
<p>&#8220;She informed me that she would arrive at 9pm on 7 January. But on the day that she was supposed to arrive at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA), she did not show up.</p>
<p>&#8220;My attempts to contact her mobile phone also failed,&#8221; said Loh during a press conference held by the Federal Territory PKR Complaints and Legal Bureau and Malaysia International Humanitarian Organisation (MHO) today, 18 January.</p>

<p>He then reached out to several of Lee&#8217;s friends in an effort to locate her and eventually discovered a lead when he contacted their child&#8217;s nanny.</p>
<p>According to Loh, the nanny said Lee had recently settled payment for the childcare service via wire transfer.</p>
<p>&#8220;The nanny sent a receipt for the payment made by my wife. Based on the receipt, <b>the money transfer was made from Laos</b>.</p>
<p>&#8220;I don&#8217;t know why my wife is there because she told me she was going to Taiwan. I&#8217;m worried she may have been abducted because her mobile phone is no longer reachable,&#8221; he said.</p>

<p>He said that the embassy has always been corporative in assisting stranded or missing Malaysians.</p>
<p>&#8220;In any case involving Malaysians abroad, we will refer to the embassy, and they will provide cooperation in addition to helping to resolve it.</p>
<p>&#8220;This includes cases of Malaysians becoming victims of human trafficking. The embassy collaborates with the government and authorities of the respective country to rescue the victims,&#8221; explained Khoo.</p>
